In a competition engine like the Rotax, every millimeter counts. This washer fills three vital roles:

1. Adjustment of the lateral game: It serves precision spacer to stall the gears on their axes. A good calibration guarantees that the teeth of the gears (like the water pump gear) remain perfectly aligned.

2. Reduction of wear: By offering a smooth and treated support surface, it prevents the rotating gears from coming "machining" directly the aluminum of the motor housing or the maintenance clips.

3. Reliability of the cooling circuit: Often placed on the axis of the water pump, it ensures that the drive is done without mechanical stress, thus avoiding the case of the plastic gears.

4. Quality steel spring: Made in high quality steel, it does not crash under pressure and retains its thickness of 1 mm Despite the thousands of rotations per minute.

"Guys, do not confuse this washer with a standard hardware washer! If it's 10.1 mm inside, it's to slide perfectly on the axis without giving a game. ? Tuto: assembly and verification

1. Cleaning: Before mounting, clean the axis and washer. The slightest impurity could create an extra thickness and block the rotation.

2. MANAGEMENT SENS: Although flat, check that the washer does not have a burr on one side. Place the smoother face against the moving pinion.

3. Checking the game: Once the closed axis and the clip laid, the pinion must have a very light lateral game (almost imperceptible). If it is blocked, it's because you have too many washers or are poorly positioned.

4. Replacement: If you see that the washer is "marked" or dug by rotating the pinion, change it. A worn washer ends up losing thickness and misuse.
